I was reading Jewish history books and other theology books like Craig Keener when I saw a new author on my book page by the name of Jonathan Macnab with an offering on Adam, the first Creation of God. It turned out to be about Noah however. I read the reviews, all 5 stars bty. I was intrigued so I loaded the free sample...."what's to lose", I though? Ten pages in....I was hooked. Couldn't put it down. Awesome characters with a marvelous style of working in Bible truths during everyday conversations with Methuselah and his fascinating family. It was inspiring to say the least. Seriously, this is a gifted writer with a promising talent using the OT Scriptures for subject matter. Move over JRR Tolkien, here comes Johnathan Macnab with an imaginative mind who uses it like a master craftsman. Every word is woven into thrilling drama with lots of suspense and even some tasteful romance created for Japheth, Shem and Ham. He captures the reader with angelic sparring between fallen creatures and God's faithful angels. Battle scenes that are heart pounding and believable. It's just really great writing from a new fiction author who merits our attention. Keep them coming Jonathan! We, who love a good fiction book salute you. Really excellent!

I love this book. It's the Word and in fiction. The truth is not compromised at all. Excellent editing, well developed characters. Th struggles of faith the characters lived through, and their ultimate victory in the fact that God is ALWAYS faithful, that He is truth, even though we don't understand, and the He is always with is, really touched my heart.I love books with angels who fight demons, and win. This is a reality too many people refuse to acknowledge. Just because they wont believe doesn't mean it's not true or real. That the sad part. There's should be many many more books like this.Well done and I can't wait for the next book and in the series.

Many books are excellent stories and I give them four stars. If I want to re-read them because they are well written , carry a great story line (and since this follows man from Eden to the flood how can the plot be bad unless the author strays, which Macnab doesn't) and totally immersed me into the story -then it rates five stars. A fictional retelling does take liberties by adding characters and elements of possibilities to the story, but like all great fiction, it COULD have happened and this book makes you think the story from God's perspective.

This was a wonderful Biblical historical fiction. Once I began, I wanted to read until the end. Basically stayed true to the Bible and a logical fictional story was woven to show how the events of the flood could have happened. Loved the way the angelic host was portrayed and loved how this book showed God's love even to those who had forgotten Him and rejected Him and needed His mercy, as we all do.

Entertaining, faith-building adventure that leaves you feeling refreshed and blessed. Good book for the entire family. Nothing in it to offend little ears or minds.What a treasure to find that these days! Creatively brings to life the story of our beginnings as recorded in Genesis, while staying true to scripture.

This is an amazing book!!! I am so thankful I found it. It was such a great reminder how the enemy wants to destroy all Christians. We need to stay alert, and be on guard.The story was exciting and I love being right there as Noah built the Ark💙

I love the angels fighting for the lives of Noah's family. Building the ark was child's play. Bringing wives for each son was neat!

What tempts this reader to read on --- is the author's uniquely creative imagination and plots. Her stories are genuine, ring true, do not stretch our credulity. They offer a slice of everyday life tainted only by the central character's newly evoked (by violent personal trauma) "ability" to sense strong emotional events before and after they occur. Ms. Bartlett's stories simply "fit-in." and make sense ... as they offer up the unusual set of circumstances which bind them and generate the mystery. Not an easy task. These stories amble forward and sometimes shocking and unnerving events and tragedies occur (alright...they always occur). Jeff Resnick discovered in book one that he must figure out what led to the central tragedy to literally be given peace (of mind) and an end to migraines caused by the devastating emotions his radar flashes upon --- that horrid events provoke in those involved. But his skill at defining and untangling a set of circumstances surrounding a brutal death are not straight forward. And his makeshift process is the author's highly skilled mystery story. If Jeff could "know" what happened and see "who done it" at the start ...there would be little point or interest whatsoever to these mysteries. Instead Jeff fumbles forward with the help of his long estranged half brother Richard, a physician and wealthy man by inheritance not practice; his sister in law...Richard's long time companion and nurse - the sensitive Brenda who finally agreed to marry him in a past book in the series; and Maggie...Jeff's pretty girlfriend - trying to leap from temporary bank employee to freelance magazine author with an eye for interior design. This was a special book to me in this series. I've read all the Jeff Resnick books and found them to be in a class by themselves. The paranormal theme is not far fetched, on the contrary, due to Jeff's horrendous mugging that took place months ago, his psychic abilities seem quite believable.This story begins with Jeff and Maggie being asked by Maggie's friend, Susan, to do an article on the Sugar Maple Inn. Susan and her husband Zack have put all their finances into making a go of this B&B. Located next to a ski resort they could make quite a bundle during the skiing season. The problem was getting enough paying guests to enable them to renovate the rooms beforehand. That's where the idea for this article comes in. Maggie doing the writing and arrangements of the rooms while Jeff takes all the pictures. The photography equipment costs money and Richard, Jeff's brother, was there for Jeff for that endeavor.But something doesn't seem right to Jeff. Negative vibes keep popping into his head and he decides to call on Richard for assistance. At first I was already for Jeff to be totally abandoned in this psychic world that's now a part of his life, but I was especially pleased when that was not the case. Richard not only chose to answer his brother's call for assistance but actually was communicating with Jeff on every angle of what Jeff's psychic senses were showing him. That's the special quality for me in this book. Jeff was not abandoned and his brother, Richard, proved that over and over. They worked as a team delving into the unknown as to what lie beneath the surface of Jeff's sense of urgency.Maggie also played a vital role as their relationship rose to a higher level. They were working on their magazine article project together, communicating about what their take on the guests as well as Susan & Zack were as well as her accepting Jeff's psychic abilities in order to solve this mystery.If you want to read a book that opens up the possibilities of another dimension in a mystery then you may want to consider "Room at the Inn" and the Jeff Resnick series.

This was the 5th book in the Jeff Resnick series I have read. I started off with Murder On My mind and downloaded each book as soon as I finished the one before. Although this book starts off a little slower than some of the others it is nonetheless intriguing. I love the main characters and feel I have gotten to know them pretty well. This book kept me guessing to the end and thoroughly engaged in the story to it's ultimate conclusion. I recommend this book and all others in The Jeff Resnick murder mysteries. L.L. Bartlett has become one of my favourite authors.

I think this is the last Jeff Resnick for me. I think that by book number 5 the characters should be more fleshed out by now, Jeff keeps calling Maggie 'his lady' (possessive) and it just doesn't seem like a natural way of speaking to me. Other inconsistencies in this book have to do with his belief in his ability as a 'psychic'. His brother refuses to come when Jeff calls and then chastises him for not believing in his abilities when he gets there. I am also tired of the type of resolution that occurs in these books, he always gets the crap beaten out of him and I mean, come on he is former military and he has NO moves at all? My dad is 83 former military and he STILL shoots bulls eye with a rifle EVERY time. I just think that these characters are not evolving fast enough and I am thoroughly sick of the whiny 'i'm so poor and your have all the money' theme. There is a clear line between being a bum and being down on your luck due to whatever and needing help from someone who wants to help you. I think more than anything I find the writing very flat.

The book itself? 5 stars. This thing is MASSIVE, and it's chock-full of anything and everything you'd want to know about the first six installments of Final Fantasy. The art sections really standout thanks to the whimsical work of Yoshitaka Amano, but the real stars of the show are the "Extra" sections for each game that deliver early-development documents. With these, you can see some of the concepts that inspired each game, as well as the concepts that didn't make the cut or were altered throughout the development process. If you're a Final Fantasy superfan, you really can't go wrong with this archive.HOWEVER, please be cautious when purchasing books from Amazon. Mine was poorly packaged (just sitting in a box without bubble wrap), so the entire bottom right corner is bent and wrinkled. The damage went beyond the cover, too, so every page has 2 inches of wrinkles, folds, and scuffs. I'll get over it but, as a fan that has been waiting years for the Ultimania series to reach the states, it's heartbreaking to have my first copy damaged upon arrival.

as said in most of the reviews the book was made of an excellent material and is a joy to read, too bad that the way shipping is handled ruins it.SHIPPING ISSUE:there has been too many complains about the Shipping of this product and I don't know why it keeps happening again and again and no one doesn't want to do anything about, it's like they see our comments and choosing not to do anything, so since they don't want to listen i just lower the score to most negative until they will have no other choice to listen, and finally start wrapping their products correctly.

 This book has a ton of great information for fans of the first 6 Final Fantasy games. It includes artwork, sketches, maps, computer renderings, and more! Check out the video flip through of the book that I added. If you are a fan, you won't be disappointed!Note: many characters, monsters, and locations are shown with Japanese language (Katakana or Hiragana most often - sometimes Kanji) with a Romaji translation (such as Kokaturisu for Cockatrice) and a final English translation. Note that much of this book is based off multiple versions of the games - often the PSP / PS1 versions for 1, 2, 4, 5 and DS for 3. Just a note because translations are different for each version. Also some of the sprites shown in character models are from later releases, not original. But it is certainly forgivable since they often show the sprites for multiple versions.I am just pawing through it non-stop. I feel like a kid when I got the first Final Fantasy and literally wore out the map/monster chart that was included!

This book is mostly art, so I will be able to get through the 300+ pages in less time than it took to play these games.The art and screen shots bring back memories of playing these games over the past 30 years. But that’s not all this book has. It also includes great design information as well as plot/scenario outlines.This book is well worth the money to any fan of the early Final Fantasy games.My only complaint is that the book was shipped without any protective material in the box (only shrink wrap), and the bottom of my copy has some dents in the cover. Sad for such a fine conversation piece.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FANS OF THE FIRST SIX FINAL FANTASY JRPGs.

The book is exactly what I knew it would be: a translated version of the Ultimania books released for the first six Final Fantasy games. These books are heavy on artwork but also contain many factoids about the games. Don't expect the amount of info that was in the Zelda Encyclopedia or Hyrule Historia books from Dark Horse, but significantly more than what was in the Zelda Art and Artifacts book. Lots of art but also a decent amount of info on the first 6 titles in the Final Fantasy series.More distressing was the shipping method of the book. The book was shipped in a cardboard box, non-form fitting so it shook around a lot. Book was shipped by Amazon Warehouse and condition was listed as Very Good. It may have been Very Good when it left the warehouse, but it took a beating on its way here, as shown by the photos on this review. The book is still quite readable, and the damage is not so severe as the book is falling apart, but it definitely took a few hard hits on its way that would have been not nearly as damaging if it had either been shipped in bubble wrap or at least a form fitting box.

This first volume of the Final Fantasy Ultimania books covers the first six Final Fantasy games, and has an enormous amount of details and content. Each game has it own individual section, complete with images of each character's classic sprites, and even their official Yoshitaka Amano art work as well. Aside from being visually appealing, the book is overflowing with unique story details, character bios, and even an encyclopedia of items and monsters! This volume of the Ultimania series is thick, it is huge, but not to the point of being a pain to carry around or hold. If you enjoy any of the six Final Fantasy games that this volume covers, you'll find something to love in this book, there is just so much information and artwork contained within this tome.This is a must-have for anyone who enjoys the Final Fantasy series, I can't recommend it enough. As a long-time Final Fantasy fan myself, I love this book, and I can't wait for Volume 2 to come out this fall.
